Look ahead — a children’s book with narration

A children’s book for ages 6–12, free, in Greek and English, narrated on every page.

Heroes: Sparken

What it is about

They made it, but they are afraid to show it because 'it's not perfect'. Sparken appears to teach them that nothing comes out perfect at the beginning.

Nothing becomes perfect in the dark. Everything gets better only when it comes out into the light.

The first page — The Fear of Judgment

They had it right in front of them. In the middle of the table, under the yellow light of the lamp. The thing they had built with their own hands, day after day, piece by piece.

It wasn't what they had imagined. In their imagination it gleamed, big and impressive. In reality it was small. Slightly crooked on one side. With scratches that showed clearly under the light, no matter how hard they tried not to look at them. But it existed. It was real. You could reach out and touch it.

"It's not perfect," murmured Philippos, rubbing his fingers together nervously.

"What if they laugh?" Alexandra's voice was almost a whisper. "What if they see it and say... what on earth is that?"

Eleftheria didn't speak at all. A battle was raging inside her — on one side the will to show it to the whole world, on the other the fear of being judged. The two voices wrestled, and neither one was winning.

Nobody said "let's go." Not even Crocus, who always shouted it first. He stood in the corner, unusually quiet. For the first time he was watching their fear and recognising it — because once, long ago, it had been his own.

"What are you waiting for?" he asked softly, almost tenderly.

Nobody answered. The clock on the wall ticked. The lamp flickered. And the silence, heavy as a blanket, was itself the answer.

What is in the book

  • 5 illustrated pages.
  • Narration on every page, in Greek and in English: the word being read lights up in the text, and a tapped word takes the narration there.
  • Read by an AI voice, in both languages.
  • A quiz at the end, 3 questions: all answers right earns the child 1⚡, once per book.
  • A short message for parents on the last page.

For parents

Perfectionism looks like quality, but is often fear in disguise. When children learn that it's okay to show something imperfect, they learn to evolve without shame. Try: don't say 'great, it's perfect' — say 'great that you tried. What would you like to change?'
