The mistake that saved us — a children’s book with narration

A children’s book for ages 6–12, free, in Greek and English, narrated on every page.

Heroes: Link & WiseBot

What it is about

They were sure they would succeed. But everything went wrong. A story about the moment you stop blaming and start learning.

The mistake doesn't break you. It reveals you. And if you look at it right, it strengthens you.

The first page — The Sure Thing

The plans were taped to the wall, covered in notes written in three different colours of ink. The tools were arranged in perfect, military rows. The workshop air smelled of hot solder and fresh paper. Everything looked perfect. Perhaps a little too perfect.

"This time we've got it," said Philippos with a confidence that made him stand taller than ever. He tapped his finger against the blueprint. "Look. Every step marked. Every component checked. Every detail exactly in its place. What could possibly go wrong?"

Eleftheria looked up from her notebook. She had spent three whole days re-reading her notes, checking every calculation, her pencil running up and down the pages. "The numbers work out," she confirmed. But her voice carried a faint shadow of hesitation — so thin that nobody noticed it. Not even she did.

Alexandra stood further back, near the window, her arms crossed. Something inside her was prickling, like a tiny bell ringing from far away. "I don't know, guys..." she began hesitantly. "I feel like something is missing. I can't say exactly what, but..."

"Don't ruin it now!" Philippos burst out, his excitement overflowing. "If we start doubting ourselves, we'll never finish. We're ready!"

Alexandra opened her mouth to insist. But the words dried on her lips. She looked at the excited faces of her friends, lowered her arms... and nodded.

No one knew that the moment Alexandra fell silent was the beginning of a mistake. A mistake that nobody could have imagined would, in the end, be the very thing that saved them.

What is in the book

  • 5 illustrated pages.
  • Narration on every page, in Greek and in English: the word being read lights up in the text, and a tapped word takes the narration there.
  • Read by an AI voice, in both languages.
  • A quiz at the end, 3 questions: all answers right earns the child 1⚡, once per book.
  • A short message for parents on the last page.

For parents

Mistakes don't need punishment. They need space for understanding. Our first reaction — whether we shout or listen — determines if a child will fear mistakes or learn from them. Try today: instead of asking 'why did you do that?', try 'what do you think went wrong? And what would you do differently?' Responsibility is not punishment — it's power.
