Έμεινε λίγα μόνο χρόνια, ο κήπος όμως έμεινε και μεγάλωσε. Σήμερα το παλάτι είναι το σπίτι της γαλλικής Γερουσίας, όπου συζητιούνται οι νόμοι, και ο κήπος ανήκει σε όλους. Στη μέση υπάρχει μια στρογγυλή λιμνούλα, και εδώ και εκατό περίπου χρόνια τα παιδιά νοικιάζουν μικρά ξύλινα ιστιοφόρα και τα σπρώχνουν με ένα μακρύ ραβδί. Δεν έχουν μηχανή ούτε τηλεχειριστήριο: τα κινεί ο αέρας, και η δουλειά σου είναι να τα σπρώξεις σωστά και μετά να τρέξεις γύρω γύρω για να τα προλάβεις στην άλλη άκρη. Ο κήπος έχει επίσης κυψέλες και σχολή μελισσοκομίας από το 1856.

The Luxembourg Gardens — Children push wooden boats along with a stick
In 1612 a queen who had grown up in Florence bought a large estate here and asked for a palace and a garden like the ones at home. She stayed only a few years, but the garden stayed and grew. Today the palace is the home of the French Senate, where laws are argued over, and the garden belongs to everybody. In the middle there is a round pond, and for about a hundred years children have been hiring small wooden sailing boats and pushing them with a long stick. They have no engine and no remote control: the wind moves them, and your job is to push well and then run round the edge to catch them on the far side. The garden has also kept beehives and a beekeeping school since 1856.
