Στο διπλανό κτίριο έμενε ένας συγγραφέας, ο Václav Havel, που αργότερα έγινε Πρόεδρος της χώρας, και σκεφτόταν χρόνια τι θα μπορούσε να μπει σε εκείνο το κενό. The Dancing House — Two towers that look as if they are dancing together
There was once an ordinary house on this corner, just like its neighbours. At the end of the Second World War, in 1945, a bomb fell here by mistake and destroyed it, and the corner stayed empty for almost fifty years. In the building next door lived a writer, Václav Havel, who later became President of the country, and for years he wondered what could go into that gap. In the end two architects, the Czech Vlado Milunić and the American Frank Gehry, designed a building that dances. It went up in 1992–1996. One tower is glass and narrows in the middle like a dancer’s waist; the other is concrete and wears a tangle of metal tubes. The front is made of ninety-nine concrete panels, each a different shape, and the windows are not in straight rows, so that the building seems to be moving. At first many people thought it did not belong here.
